Active Directory All Users found - Password Lockout !! W2k- sp4

We are having clean w2k, active directory with SP4 with around 2500 accounts.
Today morning, I found that only at my location almost all the users around 250+ ) accounts were locked out !!
( around 250+ ) accounts were locked out !!
Other remote locations did not face this problem so far..

Can any one guide me ... How do i find out the cause of this probelm ...

Pls.. need Help Badly...

Sounds like someone ran a script or did something manually.

I would start by looking through the Eventviewer on the DC. Especially the security log...

There are other ways accounts can get locked out other than just exceeding the bad password limit...maybe a script as Jpoandl mentioned. There are some wonderful tools available to troubleshoot account lockout, you should read here:

I know what you put in your post, but can you confirm that they were locked out (e.g. when you type in the wrong password too many times) or the accounts were disabled?

Have you opened Active Directory Users and Computers Snap in and reset their passwords?

How do I open "Active Direcory Users" and "Computer Snap"? I came in one day to find one of my network connections password protected?

Techsupport, do you have a policy installed where they have to follow the rules of safe passwords? If so, the passwords may have expired. Steve was on the money, were the passwords locked out, or disabled? Good luck.
