I wonder if anyone can advise on this please?
We use McData switches and mostly Emulex and JNI HBAs. Every time we activate a zone set we see in the syslogs;

scsi: [ID 243001 kern.info] /ssm@0,0/pci@19,600000/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0 (fcp0):
Lun=0 for target=6f0413 disappeared

or

jnic: [ID 170727 kern.notice] jnic1: Target3: Port 662813 (WWN 500104F00099936F:50010e6e6e6E370) offline.
jnic: [ID 168491 kern.notice] jnic1: Port 612E13 (WWN 500060E802C73204:500060E802C73204) available.
jnic: [ID 857524 kern.notice] jnic1: Port 660813 supports FCP-2 error recovery.
jnic: [ID 611728 kern.notice] jnic1: Target2: Port 660813 (WWN 500104F0009997D:500104F000000F37E) online

These servers are not in the zone set being activated.
I think this is due to RCSN going to the whole fabric rather than just the zone members but could there be a loss of data and is there a way of preventing it?

Many thanks in advance...

You are correct in assuming that this is a "Registered State Change Notification" response. The only way to disable it is by going to HBA config and disabling RSCN.

Does this imply that if we disable the RSCN on the HBA's they will not pickup zone changes?
Are there other implications of the RSCN disable?
Thanks again...
