Hi

I've just spent x number of hours trying to figure out how to get the cursor to appear in a text box when a form opens. I'd tried all the various options and resources and I figured that the setfocus command would be required when the form 'initializes' ..... however this isn't the case, it needs to be when the form 'activates' (head banging against the wall!)

Can someone explain the difference between the two?

Initialise is when you set the values for dropdown fields etc., so the user can see them when the form is activated, ie when it is brought to the front of the screen and can be used for typing in, etc.

You can only put the cursor somewhere when the form is activated, as it doesnt exist for the form when the form is not active.

I hope this helps. There is probably a nice long explanation with lot of nice long words, but this one works okay for me :)

All the best

That explanation works just perfectly for me as well!

Many thanks
