Every time I go in and modify the layout bu=y adding fields to the present layout, it does something to the resolution and blows up the screen. I am not changing the resolution when I work on the layout so what is changing the screen?

Does this haapen if you try doing this on a different database?
Have you tried turning off the Video Acceleration and seeing if it still happens?

I am having the same problem! The Act knowledge database instructs you to change desktop settings (win xp) from large to normal and type to 96 point. I have done these several times but the layout is still larger than the screen.

here is the link to their 'solution';

I had this problem with a previous laptop, and their instructions corrected it, but with this new laptop, the problem persists.

Any other suggestions?

several times" - as in trying the 'fix' several times with nothing happening. The 'magnified' layout would still be there.

I would change the font appearance and DPI setting to normal, restart, open act and it would be the same. I would then make a small change in the layout and go thru the process again. I tried every modification I could think of.

Frustrating thing is that it was correct, one time, but won't get back to the correct sizing.

As I said, I had this problem with a previous laptop and the 'fix' worked. Can't figure out why it won't now.

So, are you saying that the Windows DPI and font settings are reverting? Otherwise, how do you retry the fix?

Sorry if I'm missing something... if the Windows setting is reverting, it's not an ACT! issue

I apologize for not being clear! the blown up act layout was NOT changing regardless of what I was doing to the windows settings.

I did figure out a fix tho. I did a restore with the windows settings at the normal and 96 dpi settings and the restored database layout is fine. i did lose a few files but they are easily re-entered.

sometimes ya just gotta go back to square one.

it was, but changing the screen settings is supposed to fix the layout size problem. it did in the past.
