Not a serious thing but a rather annoying habit.

We had act!8 premium for workgroups and for various reasons (mainly the thing kept loosing data) we upgraded to the equivalent version of act! 9.

I had a problem in Act!8 where after scheduling an activity act would loose focus to internet explorer. I was hoping this would be resolved after the update but it wasn't. I highly doubt it's anything to do with the computer as it was wiped due to a virus in the middle of all this.

Anyone know how to fix this? Becuase it's frustrating the hell out of me.

Does this happen every time?
Have you updated to 9.0.1 + Hotfix1?
What happens if IE isn't running but other applications are?
What happens if only ACT! running?

Not every time, haven't yet noticed any specific conditions, could be only when IE is maximised behind it.

I have not yet updated ACT. Suppose I could try that but I'm not holding out much hope seeing as the bug was present in Act! 8 aswell.

I haven't experimented with other applications, I will give it a go.

It seems to run normally if only act! is running but then 99% of the time I have IE running aswell so it could just be a fluke.

OK, only happens if IE is restored or maximised, and only happens when IE is running.

Can't figure out how to update act! I'll keep working on that one.

Thanks, done that. Still Happens, I think the solution might be just to run IE minimised so it stops annoying me, (I'd need it open to check details from a database we bought which is full of wrong numbers).

I'll see if I can find a fix when I have a chance...

Maybe try using Firefox :)

PS: Hope you didn't pay to much for the data...

Thanks, I've been meaning to download firefox for a while, never got round to it.

As for the data, I've got no idea how much we paid for it, I only started working here recently but whatever it was it was too much, considering I could have just gone on yell.com and done better.

BTW: I've just tried in in ACT! 9.01 with IE7 and couldn't get it to happen

Does it happen with ANY activity?
Does it happen in the demo database?

Yes, any activity.

I won't be able to test things out again till monday as I'm now at home.

Thanks for all your help. Downloaded firefox and it doesn't happen with that so it's a sort of a fix.

Were you also IE7?

Weird that it didn't happen here... maybe, if someone else is reading this thread they can post if it happens to them

I've used ACT on workstations with IE6, IE7, and FF, yet never ran into this issue. ACT does tend to loose focus to IE, though, when adding database users. Odd.
