Act 6.0 has never had a problem finding Word in Office XP and now I have a Vista installation where I am told Act can't find the Word Processor, and it may be a matter of security permissions.
After I click OK I get another message saying The Word Processor driver is not running.

ACT! 6.0 was never written to support Vista, and if you're running Office 2007, it won't work with that either.

ACT! 2008 fully supports Vista and Office 2007

My question is, has anyone found a way to get Act 2006 to call up Winword 2002 is Vista?
I have used Act for 20 years and did upgrade from Act 2006 to 2007, but I switched back. Act 2006 is where I stop, unless the underpinnings of the program are simplified (which I can't imagine).

You've said ACT! 2006 and ACT! 6.0 - these are different products, but niether were compatable with Vista or Office 2007.

Many Microsoft products produced more than 2 years ago will never be updated for Vista... eg those (like ACT! 2006 is) based on SQL 2000.

I'm pretty sure Winword 2002 will have many issues under Vista also.

Be careful if Vista is 64-bit. One of my sales reps bought a nice HP laptop with Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I could not get Act 2000 to work on it, and was told (in error) that Act 2008 would work. About $200 later, I found out directly from Sage that 64-bit OS is NOT supported by ANY version of Act. Had to wipe out the HD, buy & install a 32-bit Vista Ultimate OEM, and start from scratch. (HP would not provide a 32-bit version since purchased as 64-bit).

Yes, it;s important that before anyone buys any new operating system that they should confirm that the software packages that they want to use can run on it.

Same things happened with XP, Windows 2000 and Windows 95

As to the 64bit variants, I think it will take more ACT! users to be using and requesting this for it to be included.
