Hi,

I have outlook 2003 on win2k machines.
2 of them crash out of outlook 3/4 times a day causing outlook to restart and then eventually disable the Act outlook plugin.

eventvwr shows 2 events relating..

source Act.Outlook.Service
id 0

description...
An error occurred creating the configuration section handler for QueueProviders: Could not load file or assembly 'Act.Outlook.Service.AppCommon, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=ebf6b2ff4d0a08aa' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040) (C:\Program Files\ACT\ACT for Windows\Act.Outlook.Service.exe.config line 4)

I have tried removing/reinstalling outlook2003

any ideas welcome?

What error message does Outlook give when it crashes?
What operation are the users doing when it crashes?

Hi,

The users are often not even using outlook or act, they will be open but minimised, other times they could be in either working.

the error outlook shows is

Outlook encountered a serious error and will close.
..asks if you want to send an error report, outlook then restarts.

after so many crashes outlook then tells you that the act plugin has caused the crash and do you want to disable it.

I initially thought it could be AV software so uninstalled it. I then wondered wether giving the user admin permission in act would resolve it, but no.
ive not tried giving the users windows admin permissions on the network, however they have admin permissions over their machines

If Outlook crashes for ANY reason, it will point to the last plug-in as a possible cause.

If you select to disable the plug-in (history won't be created in ACT!) and try running it and see if the crashes still happen, then it would just be something else in Outlook.

What AV are you using?
Have you also checked for Spyware/adware?

What version of Outlook?
Are you using Exchange?

The problem only arose once the act address book was added to outlook.

its outlook 2003 connected to exchange server 2003

the AV is Norton Corporate edition, however ive removed it from the pc... ive also got it installed and my laptop has never crashed once.

ive not done a spyware check, in eventvwr at one stage there were a lot of dcmon errors which i have remedied by updating microsoft data access components.

Also, is it NAV or SAV?

NAV often causes an issue with the Oulook integration when installing ACT!... you usually need to have NAV uninstalled (not just disabled) when installing ACT! and connecting to Outlook (then you can reinstall NAV).

SAV (their corporate product Symantec instead of Norton) doesn't have this glitch

Is it machine specific or user specific? What if you switch a user who's ok with one that isn't? If machine specific, I'd try spyware or a reinstall.

You might also try (as a temprary fix) disabling the advanced Outlook intergration (I assume ACT!8?)
