ACT! 2007 - Customizing Fields in New Opportunities

I am having a problem customizing the New Opportunity in ACT!. When you open a new opportunity in ACT!, you have the ability to select/add a new product, and add information in the following fields: Item #, Quantity, Cost, Price, Adj. Price, Discount and Subtotal. Our organization does not need all of those fields (Item #, Quantity, Cost, Price, Adj. Price, Discount and Subtotal) and I would like to remove some of them(Item #, Cost, Adj. Price, and Discount). I have been searching online and in several help books but cannot find any instructions on how to remove those fields. Additionally, these fields are pre-populated with zeros; I also cannot find any information on keeping these fields empty when a new opportunity is opened. I would appreciate any assistance or guidance you can provide to me - or at least a point in the right direction. Thank you in advance!!!
 
Which version of ACT! 2007? With the standard retail version, there are no customisations possible to the sales opportinities are. There are some parts you can customise in the Premium versions (Workgroups and Web).

However, you can't remove the fields you're trying to as they are part of the sales ops area, and used in the calculations.

Thank you for responding. I am using ACT! by Sage 2007 (9.0) Version 9.0.0.557. I hope that helps you. Just so I am clear on what you said, no matter which version I am using I can't remove those fields from the New Opportunities section of the software?

No, you can't remove those fields.

BTW: the version number doesn't tell me if it's the standard retail or the premium, but it does tell me that you might want to get the patch to 9.0.1 that's available :)

Thanks again. Sorry I wasn't sure what you were looking for. (This is my first week using ACT! so I am VERY unfamiliar with it) I believe we are using the Standard Retail version. Thanks for the info about the patch - from what I am told from the other users our IT department tells us when there is a patch to install.

Yes, you all need to install the patch at the same time.

In the standard retail version, there is no customisation of the Sales Ops possible.
