Hi

Does anybody know if there are any ACSS practice exams available, to give me a rough idea of the level of the exam? I am debating whether to go straight in for the ACSS, or do the ACIS exam first. I have just come to the end of a two year apprenticeship, during which time I have worked mainly on IP Office, plus a bit of Panasonic and LG, and the occasional Zyxel or Cisco data install. My college course was based on the Cisco CCNA Discovery course, and I passed the CCENT exam first time, but have had to put off the final CCNA exam (not part of the course requirements) due to needing to do the IP Office Advanced Apps course and prepare for a couple of big installs. So I am looking to get Avaya certified while the course is still fresh in my mind, before going back to finish off Cisco.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

They are two different courses. The ACSS builds on the ACIS. The ACSS will have more "advanced" information and troubleshooting steps.

There is some exam prep stuff no the credetial page:

Look at the docs in the middle, DOC-0109-0111, they are exam prep.

Yeah I'm working my way through those at the moment. The first one was real basic, I woulda thought that should be under the ACIS section, but hopefully the second and third will be more challenging. Would you say that if you know all of the material in those documents then your ready for the exam, or does it jump up a level?

When you say "advanced" are you talking VM Pro, Contact Store, One-X, CCR etc, or is all that stuff in the ACIS exam too?

Is the ACIS exam of a similar level to the old Product Authorisation exam that used to be on the Avaya University website, or is it a step up from that?

Thanks for your help :)

I passed the ACIS and ACSS late last year.

The ACIS was pretty much just basic installation questions, capacities and some basic trouble shooting. Easily the fastest exam I've ever sat.

The ACSS was a little harder but if you know the products, it isn't very difficult. I found there to be a lot more questions around VM Pro, SCN's and trouble shooting. There were a few questions on the use of system monitor too, and configuring it to get useful trace data.

There wasn't much on CCR or OXP.

All in all, both were pretty easy exams. I've only worked with the IP Office for just over 2 years, and most of the work I do is pre building small systems so I rarely see anything with VM Pro. I haven't been on the courses either - just watched the online videos and got some hands on experience.

If you've done the courses and got the experience, you should be fine.

I got the ACSS pre test from pass4sure and it was dead on. I took the ACIS about 2 weeks ago and it was a brand new test, but it wasn't that hard. Scored above 90% on both.

I'm also ShoreTel certified :(

hbsurfn, was that the 3000.2 or 3000.3? 3000.2 has 103 questions, 3000.3 has just 59 questions. I took my ACIS monday, and agreed it's not that hard (albeit I did a lot of revision).

Just did the new ACIS. It's actually a joke.

Filled with typos and stupid answers.

In one question the correct answer wasn't even correct!

Shocking.

ACSS-SME
not arrogant, just succinct.

I was toying on doing the ACIS just for completeness.

To be honest, I thought the ACSS was far too easy - it takes value away from actually having the certification.

The old ACS was more indepth and had a lot more value to it.

APDS - Unified Communications

They need to bring back the ACE.

Indeed, every inexperienced guy can pass them when they read the docs.
There should really be a hands on test.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Yeah - bring back proctored practical exams. They still do them for the ACM.

I took the ACE practical exam for IPO and just missed out :-(

True, but apparently they aren't to buy an iPad3 (sorry "NEW iPad") to test 8.1 beta software out, or so my Boss says :)

Anyone got a copy of those 3 PDFs?

I've only got the first one, and now the websites been changed (for the 3001 exam) so I cant get the other two!

Thanks

Dave
