We recently lost power to our phone system during a thunderstorm, and I had to reset/ reconfigure/ reprogram the processor and expansion cards. With that said, I have never serviced our phone system before this, and it was installed three IT personel ago.

I had to get manuals and documentation for the phone system, which required Model Numbers etc... To do the the required task. The only I could not find out was what the phone system is capable of, we currently have hold music set up, auto-line-selection, extensions, and extension names setup.

What I am currently curious about is what all can our current system do (auto-answer, direct extension, caller ID). The model numbers of the installed cards (5-port carrier) are

-Left Most Bank - 308EC Module R3.0
-Next Bank to right - 400EC Module R3.1
-Final Bank to right - Partner ACS 599 Processor

To be completely honest, I have really no idea what I am doing with this phone system other than setting time and date, replacing batteries, and doing the most basic of prgramming.

Could someone help me and bring me up to speed on what this phone system is capable of, and possibly some links to manuals, guide, etc.. that I may use to become more fluent with our phones?

Here is Avaya's demo on what Partner can do. There are also links to more technical information.

Here is the manual for Partner Release 7. If this isn't your release, you can change the release in the drop down box at the top of the page. There is a section on Features that describes them and gives you programming information.

Thanks for your reply.

I found out my system does support caller ID, and I just spoke with the Telco this morning to find out whether it was a feature we were subscribed to, it is.

I guess the next question is, is this feature on automatically? Or is there some special steps I need to take to make caller ID show up on incoming on all office phones? We currently use 18D phones, and several recent release 18D's (post 2005(oval keys)).

Thanks again.

CID will come through automatically after the phone rings two times. For more details on this and the CID features you can program, look in the manual under Caller ID. The Call Log and Inspect buttons are great tools. Thank you for the star!

Your welcome for the star, I appreciate when I get help ;-). It's kinda like the "Thank You" button on vBulletin type boards.

Anyhow, I wonder if one of or both of my boards are bad, CID isn't working, and it's on all lines entering the system. It's not exactly verifiable, unless I come in with a stand-alone CID and disconnect [for instance] line one coming in and call it from my cell.

Any ideas why CID wouldn't come through to the phones inter-office?

Your phones must ring two times for the signal to come through from the service provider. Are the phones set up to ring two times before voice mail answers? Or, are employees answering the phone too quickly?

Just an update -

1. Called AT&T today, they said we HAVE caller ID and it is working on all lines.

2. Employees are NOT answering before third ring, it's a rule we've had, and I assume CID did at one time work, as there are multiple phones that have 'CID Table" handwritten on them.

I have all the manuals, and have done a complete reset of the system, still not "ringing" through. Extensions and all incoming/outgoing lines are working properly (minus CID), and the hold music is working too.

I'm completely lost.

I'm having another issue with the my PARTNER ACS R7, I have went through the manual multiple times, and tried programming the phone(s) at different stations to have a paging button.

We don't have any call groups, and I tried loudspeaker paging via ICM-70, ICM-*70, and even checked the setting at [SYS PROG #617] which reads currently '--' (so none?). I don't have an external paging system, and what I am trying to do is set the phones to page via the built in speakers (this function once work... Before the storm I spoke of in the first post).

How do I reset this back up?

CID:
Connect a Caller ID single line phone to one of the line cords that plug into the Partner. [Remove a line cord from the port in the processor and plug it into the set. Call in on that line to see if CID shows up on the set.] Do this on every line. Does the CID info show?

Also, do you have standard POTs lines, or do you have an alternate provider who has some type of equipment installed at the office?

Set up a Paging Group: You need to assign the extensions to a call group. [In your manual look up “Calling Grp Exts #502]

Then program a paging button on each phone:
Press Feature 00
Press the button you want to program
Press the left intercom button, star 7 and the group number.
---For example, press *71 if your group number is one.
Press Feature 00 to exit programming mode.

Sys,

That last post worked like a charm. As for the previous post, that worked too. Ever since I assigned a call group to the extensions, the caller ID has been working on the lines. Interesting.

One final thing though -

Caller ID is showing the name, but no incoming number on our 18D's, and it's showing the name on bottom line, is this normal, or just another setting that needs some monor tweaking?

Thanks a million!

You are so welcome!! Glad to help.

1. Check with your carrier to see how they have configured the Caller ID for your lines.

2. Read "Caller ID Logging and Dialing" in your manual. It shows you how to assign CID Logging to the lines and a CID Log button on the phones. You can use the button to change the screen so that you can see the name or ph number while the line is ringing. It also saves the information if you want to view it again later.
