ACS R.3.0 is not powering up. 18D LCD Flash on & off 1

Help! PLEASE. I'm new to this fourm and it's the best from what I'm reading. If someone could help me please, I'd be much thankfull. I have a Partner ACS 3.0 that worked a month ago when it was in service. I did check the memory batteries when it was powered off, I now know that was wrong. But I can't get it to power up.

For a test, I have two 18D's , CO's in or out, and the LCD's just flash every two or three seconds. Won't power up.

Is there a button reset on the processor board? What do ya think?

Unplug the phone system and plug back in. If it's in a carrier, power down, pull out the processor module, push back in place and power up. Do you have a steady green light on the processor when it's turned on??

how long are you waiting ?

I would power up with the cord directly into the processor then let is sit for a hour or so and see if it comes up

Ive seen them have issues untill the power supply burns in for a while

I have tried both, with just the power cord and with the carrier + 206's.
I haven't had the power on more than about 15 20 seconds.
Just afraid to leave it powered up too long for more damage to set in.

Yes, the green light is on but it has a slight flicker to it about the same time the LCD's flash.
I'll try keeping it powered up longer as you suggested.

If you are pulling out the entire acs processor, plugging that in direct with the black power cord and are still not getting a phone to come up then your processor is more than likely bad. Do you have a local phone vendor that works on your equipment? A local Avaya buisiness partner should be able to take care of you. If they determine the processor is bad I would replace with the Avaya R6 308 ACS. Your other option would be the Avaya R7 509 processor OR a different phone system all together. Good luck!

Sadly, the Partner ACS R7 has been a problematic release for Avaya. So much so, many Avaya Business Partners refuse to sell it. They continue to sell the R6 processor, which is still in production.

Some vendors report having few problems with the R7, but it seems like a crap-shoot.

My thought would be to go with the R6. The hardware design has been around for several years and has proven itself to be reliable.

If you are using an old style 5 module carrier, upgrade it to the new carrier which spaces modules apart further which helps with heat dissipation.

Well guys, I'm a little discussed with all the mismatch problems through out the years with AT&T Partner, Partner Plus, Partner 2, Avaya, Lucent, ACS, on and on. Now even the carriers aren't even compatible.

I think I going to look for a new partner in the phone system business.

I know you guy's are heavy in to Partner, bacause you're
on this forum thread. But do you know of a company that I won't be pulling my hair out every time they want to make a little change in their product??

I'm sorry - what part of the carriers is not compatible? The new ones just space out the modules more, and offer an easier way to route the connecting cords. The R6's and even the R7's (OMG!) are reliable systems with a lot of features.

When I bought this (out of service)ACS 3.0 Processor it was a stand alone w/power cord, and 3 18d,s all working well.

When I plugged it in a Partner Plus carrier w/206e & 206's, that's when it went in to it's LCD flashing mode, but w/green light.

So now it does the same thing out of the carrier.

That's what I ment about carriers not being compatible.

my guess would be weak power supply that was taxed by the addition of the 206e

carrier didn't have anything to do with it

Thank You Skip555, YOU WERE RIGHT. It was the power-supply. I put a 4xpower scope on it and found the solder crack.. I Use silver solder on most everything these days for strength.
Thanks, I saved about 150 bucks on a repair bill.
