I have had a least 4 or 5 partner ACS 509 boards fail on me in the last 5 months, all with the same trouble...green light on but no power to any of the ports on the board..It does not matter if it is a rel 7 or rel 8...
They were all installed about the same time period with 3 to 4 years being in service then they die.
I have sent them out for repair and all is well after being repaired, but my question is this,
Is this something that I can expect with all of the 509 boards I have installed in the last few years, or did the factory have a bad run on components and what is the cause..
I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this trouble....Just curious.
Thanks

I can't say that I've heard of that problem. Knowing that a 509 processor that was released as an R7 could be flashed up to an R8, do the serial numbers of the failed boards yield any clues? What was the repair done to the boards that resolved the problem? Was it the same fix for all of them?

My personal Partner ACS processor, which is vintage 2005, has been well behaved. [smile]

Dexman...The serial numbers are in no way a clue since they were manufactured in different years and I do not know what it takes to repair the boards other than what Exsmogger stated re the flashing of the chip..It's probably something like a faulty batch of components and Avaya will not mention it or for that matter own up to the problem.

I've only run into this once. I could get dial tone on the extension ports with a single line set, but no power to Partner phones. I just had it repaired. Hopefully not a sign of things to come.

"The serial numbers are in no way a clue since they were manufactured in different years and I do not know what it takes to repair the boards"

Ok.....so the answer to my first question is...basically..."no" because the serial numbers are all over the place. The second question was asked in hopes that the repair facility explained what was done to the processors to get them functional again.

So, chalk it up to a run of bad chips.

Dexman..Correct...But I will try asking the repair facility again as to what it takes to correct the failure...It's not like I'm going to repair the board myself but I can respect the fact that they have taken the time and resources to fix the problem and don't want to broadcast it to their competitors..
If I gain anymore info I will certainly post it here.
Thanks again for your input.

I may have a similar problem....any idea what it cost to repair your processor units for this particular issue? Is there a particular company you would recommend? I am a novice user with (as of yesterday) green LEDs on my 509 processor and 308 module but no power to any of my handsets. Thanks for your help.
