With my ongoing struggle with Arcserve I have found my self using database repairs often.

I was wondering if any of you guys have used database Packing?

It is only maintained product I have not used yet and would like to get a bit feedback before attempting it. ie how long does it take, worth the effort etc etc.

I upgraded from traditional NetWare volumes to NSS in and attempt to stabilize database performance over 2Gb. Now I am not so sure it is helped.

Any feedback on database packing greatly appreciated.

Let me just say that I would not waste the time with ARCserve 7. That version is an abortion of a software application. In the words of my CA rep, "We never should've released Version 7." If I were you, I'd upgrade to 9. We are running it here, and are having success with it.

If it does not work right off the bat, unfortunately you'll have to deal with tech support. It is not a fix you'll be able to make, as they walk you through funky additions to config files, etc. Bear through the Indian accents, and things will work out. So far, it's been flawless in our environment.

Good luck!
