I have noticed that on several of our systems, the acrobat service hangs. The users will attempt to open a pdf, and it doesn't. They then procede to click on it 6 or 7 times before calling me. Every time this happens, I see that there are multiple acread.exe (not sure of the exact name) running in task manager. I kill all of those process', and pdf's once again open up. I have seen this with reader 5, 6 and acrobat prof 6. This occurs on XP Pro and 2000 Pro.. anyone have an idea what is happening here? It's random, but a nuisance.

Had a similar problem with acrobat on XP professional. I deleted some temp files using Run -> %temp%. Seemed to fix the problem. Hope it helps

I tried this before, didn't help, but thanks for the suggestion..

Ive been having hanging problems with acrobat/reader with large PDF files. If this is the case, try and find a program that can optimize the file better than Acrobat's optimize option when using "Save As." One program I've found (Free 10-day trial Full use) is PDFEnhancer.
