Hi all,

I trying to access FDF files linked on a website but cannot view them because they need Acrobat Reader 5.1. The problem is that when I click on them Acrobat Exchange (on Acrobat 4.0 full version) keeps trying to open them up. Does anyone know how to set it so that Reader 5.1 views them instead?

Thanks,

jisoo22,

Sounds like a general file association problem to me. Have you already tried changing that? On my machine the association is set to open in the full version of Acrobat also, but I was able to open them in Reader by changing the association for that file type.

I assume that as a programmer you know how to do that but just in case...The easiest way to change the association is to first select an FDF file by clicking on it once, hold down the shift key, then right-click the icon and choose "Open With" from the context menu. When the Open With dialog box pops up, find Acrobat Reader in the list, select it, and then make sure you click the checkbox to
'always open with this application' and the file should open in Reader...now and forever more.

FDFs now open in Reader on my WIN2K machine so it should work for you too. 'Well, it's one louder, isn't it?...
What we do is, if we need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?...Eleven. Exactly. One louder.'
