On our terminal server recently, when a user clicks on a PDF file, they get the message:

"This page provides potentially unsafe information to an ActiveX control. Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly."

Changing the security zone settings from medium (this is from the internet, but the same message appears if drag and dropping a file into the browser from the HD) to low makes no difference either.

If you set (in the readers prefs) to not load in the browser, then an image placeholder icon appears instead and the reader is not launched, with no error messages either!

Any ideas?

Have found the answer now - the problem lies with comcat.dll in %systemroot%\system32. V5 and on dont work in NT4, you need 4.71 (or just a plain older one!)

Thanks for posting your research back to the forum; it's much appreciated.
