dont know if im posting in the right place or not,,,,,,, please let me know????

ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering i have four of them listed in system
devices do i need them all??? the reason for looking here is that my pc boots up slow, and hangs at the PCI screen when i boot up...
im using win98se

unless you want to turn off pci steering which i would not recommend you will have 4 listed you can remove them but the system will just put them back, your problems i believe lie elswhere, EXAMP: Had a system here that it would take it 4 to 5 min just to boot the problem was a cdrom drive having trouble initializing replace it and now the system does a complete boot in about a minute and a half

Thank you!! I almost took them out! How do I find out what hardware im having trubble with? the cdrom works fine.. i use it most everyday...im not having trubble with anything else,,,,,,at least not that i can tell.. Ive gone to several online test sites.....all say the system is fine........if you know anyway i can do process of elimination, id appreciate it...

i did have trubble with a webcam. everytime i booted the pc, it would give a series of beeps.....after finding out the beep code.(turned out to be video) i removed the cam and software,,, and alls fine.....im without a cam now..but, oh well, hoping its just that model.
or maybe......????? something else?

first thing to do is just regular maintance , disk clean up
temp files scandisk defrag, if that doesnt run msconfig from the start/run command box and see what is starting on bootup, if your on a network it may be just haveing trouble identifying the protocols as fast as it use too.

This thought jumps to my mind. Since I reformatted my HD. and tried to use my dvd player.. i get this..

Ive NO clue how or where to find or do this...heck the reformat was a challenge...the pc was built for me by a "super tech" (but we'll not get into that!!) therefore, i DO NOT want to put it back in his hands. as ive been soaked enough money on a 3000.00 pc. all work and building INCLUDED!!!! (court date is soon!)

goto device manager and look under hard disk controllers. it might show you the chipset there if not maybe under the usb controlers... BTW what OS are you running?

Under Hard disk controllers it lists.

Primary IDE controller (dual fifo)

and download the 4in1 drivers and run the install everything to default as it is suggested making sure that you put a check when it ask to enable dma support
