We are currently on Sage 300 2014 (62A) and are looking for a way to clean up and reorganize all the custom macros and reports. Is there any way to "see" from an administrator's point of view which custom macros and reports shortcuts as well as their path that each user has? I figured it could be in the shared directory, under USER\UserID\DBName.ism but couldn't quite figure out how to open those files.
How do I open these .ism files? Or is there another way to get we're trying to do?
 
The .ism files are a binary format so that won't help too much. You still might be able to use a hex editor to see paths to macros. Otherwise, no, there isn't a way to manage this that way.
 
Well that's kinda bizarre... so basically Sage just expects all users to manage the macros and custom reports themselves. Then if we reorganize and move the macros, it will be a pain to update the users' shortcuts. Any tips or tricks to help ease the process are greatly appreciated!
 
There is an "All Users" option when adding shortcuts - you could do that and have the users delete their shortcuts, or go around and do it for them - or nuke their custom files in their users folder.
There is no automated way of doing this, a bit of a weakness in the design.

For custom reports I rely heavily on Customization Directories, far better than desktop shortcuts.
