I have upgraded my workstation to XP and am on a network
We have 4 printers that all worked with win98
I did install the net use lpt 1 -4 with the persistent:yes command. The first three printers work okay the printer on lpt 4 does not work on the workstation

If iI do a Ctrl-D and go to DOS while in Accpac and issue command dir.lpt4 the printer does work.

Any help would be appreciated

Run Regedit, then do the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Ports
[Edit][Add Value...]
Name: "LPT4:" (without the quotes. Note: the colon ':' is required.)
Data Type: REG_SZ
Repeat this process for all LPT ports from LPT4-9
Leave the Data field empty.
Reboot

Thanks for the direction. I did do exactly what you suggeted and added the LPT4: in XP and the port is now there. However the same printing problem still exists when I try to print to that printer in Accpac. I do have Accpac WSM7 with Sp2 installed on an NT4.0 Server.
Hope you can be of further assistance.

Did you map the printer with a Net use Command? If that doesn't work, you may be out of luck. Accpac Plus is a pretty old program. XP didn't exist when it was first programmed.

Yes it is mapped with the net use command as are the other three printers. As I indicated I print from with in accpac if I use a ctrl - d while in accpac and I can print to lpt4 if I issue that command.

If anyone knows a solution to this problem please let me know.

Thank you all
