Hello
I'm currently running Accpac for Dos Version 7.0 and I'm coming across a strange error message which has stumped all the MS Dos Pros I've asked.

If I go back to an entry to correct the payment amount, the Payment amount has been overwritten with "***********" and a description next to it "AREA FOR EMM PAGE FRAMES" is displayed. If I try to change the amount I receive the following message
"Invalid Key" The number entered is too large.

Odd thing is if I exit that particular batch, or enter a new entry in the same batch and go back to that particular entry the details in the Payment screen seem to fix themselves (i.e. the error message is gone).

This error seems to occur whenever I exit the Accpac environment and go back in for whatever reason. It doesn't matter which entry I select.

Data and program are both on our server which is running Windows XP

Data Integrity Check is coming up fine

Confignt is set at 225 files

Has anybody seen this before? I'm under deadline to complete year-end.

Thanks

Emmy

What is the workstation o/s?
Check all the memory settings for the Plus icon. EMM = expanded memory manager, maybe your icon settings are messed up.

Both workstations have Windows XP (Version 2002).

We had a specialist look at it and he did have a look at the plus icon; Mine is set up as:

EMS = 4096
XMS = Auto
DPMI = 4096

It's stumped him as well. Now I just had a look at my assistant's computer and her plus settings are different so maybe he just updated the plus icon on my computer and not on the server?

Thanks for trying to help me with this.

Use the auto and protected settings for everything, that has worked for me in most cases.

That is what they were originally set at (and have been since 2002!). My assistant's workstation still reflects that.
The specialist was trying out different things - guess that wasn't the reason because like I said my settings were originally set how you recommended .....

Hi kateatMKS

Yes, I believe that is the case. He updated my registry and then sent instructions on how to do it on the server. I don't believe that this was done on my assistant's computer though. I'll make a note to check that (or have him check it as I don't know how to go about doing that)

FYI, this error has nothing to do with Opportunistic File locking, and everything to do with the properties of the PIF you use to start it up.

Maybe a corrupted PIF file?
Try starting Plus by double clicking the Plus.exe file, this will start Plus with default Windows settings and see what happens. If this works then delete your PIF file and create a new one.
