Does anyone know how to install multi user accpac -dos version- on Samba. Currently I run it on Novell and want to migrate it to Samba (or even Win 2003 Server).
You may not be able to move it at all if you don't have the original 3 1/2" system manager disk, because you need that switch from Netware to NT. What version of Accpac Plus are you running, and do you have the old diskettes?
Accpac Plus on Linux, heck that will be a first. As tuba says, you need the original System Manager disks to reinstall the System Manager as well as the Lanpaks.
I am able to copy all files from novell to directories on Samba.
I can run accpac and see lan pak units - I could not save ld4 files in individual directories and it runs off x:\asp directory. But I was able to get 10 users with multiple modules open.
To do this I had to replicate the asp directories - very inconvenient. I have Accpac 6.1 and yes I can dig up the old disks somewhere.
What do you mean with "I could not save ld4 files in individual directories"?
All the program files should be in the share on the server, and all workstations need a drive mapped to the share.
You will need to reinstall the lanpaks and select the correct network O/S, using Novell lanpaks on Linux/Samba could lead to problems.
I wouldn't go near it on Samba. Accpac Plus never heard of Linux when it was written. It needs to run from the root of a mapped drive. You'll be lucky if you can get it to run on server 2003.
