We are currently looking at using a point of sale system. We have heard some mixed reviews about ACCPAC's EPOS. Wondering if perhaps anybody is using this system and what the experience has been. We don't want to get started with a product before looking at all altenratives. Any suggestions/comments about his product would be very much appreciated.

After a rocky start, the latest version has gotten pretty stable and usable. I would recommend it if Accpac is the back office accounting system. A year ago I wouldn't have, it was pretty rough for my two ePOS clients at the time, but the kinks have been worked out.

What Jay has said. To add - it's not an 'easy out of the box' type product. Get yourself someone who knows the product to help.

Yo, Etienne! Are you on all the Accpac forums, too???

Yep. Neat way to keep in contact and get ideas too.

When are you in our nick of the woods again? Like to take you out for a weekend cruise sometime - summer's a comin!

Who knows? They don't let me out of my cave very much these days. Plus, we're getting 8" of snow tomorrow in DC. That's the equivalent of 4 feet for Canadians....

Take a break and fly over here for a long weekend! We had our annual snow last week but it's 14C here and all gone. Winter was fun this year - we even got to build a snowman before it started raining again ;)

Thank you Jay and EtienneG. I was also asked by my Supervisor if either of you could comment on if EPOS links to the inventory module and if so how well does it work.

I am also wondering about Jayconverse's comment about the kinks being worked out meant that ACCPAC has worked them out. If not then I am assuming that you have worked out the kinks for your clients.

dbant2003,

To answer your questions:
1. Yes, it does link to IC. In fact, it layers on top of OE for the most part, and you will have proper inventory control, costing etc.
2. ACCPAC has cleaned up the product pretty nicely. As we both said, though, get some help if you want to spare yourself a lot of time and frustration.

IF you R in South Africa I would recommend ISOPOS

It integrated into PO, IC and OE

It is a stable and easy to use POS that has a good reputation
