Hi everybody.. Merry Xmas..
I am replacing an old station used with Accpac ePOS 5.2A SP6.
Installation and activation of the ePOS software on the new terminal works properly, but once I try to run the ePOS register nothing happens.
It loads the splash screen and that is about it.
I get no error messages or warnings.
The old cash register is running win2000pro, the new one runs XPPro SP2.
My question is, Is Accpac ePOS 5.2A SP6 able to run on Windows XP Pro SP2??
I would appreciate your help with this issue.
The only option I have right now is installing Win2000 on the new computer to be able to run ePOS.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes, it runs on XP. When you do the install, make sure you reboot whenever prompted, there are no shortcuts. You may have to uninstall/reinstall.

That issue was addressed in the hotfixes, the latest for ePOS 5.2 is SP6 HF4.
Also check if you have the following registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_LIMIT_MONIKERS
1 Entry: EPOS.EXE

You can create this registry entry if it is missing, you may get ePOS going again.

Wow.. that was quick..
thank you tuba2007 and ettiene for your quick response..
This problem has been messing with my head for the last two days.
I did install/uninstall a few times.. no shortcuts..
but still nothing worked..
However, I think I'm gonna have to go with win2000..
sadly, I didn't renew my support contract this year and since it's the first time I'm moving epos to WinXP, I dont have this hotfix in my set..
Thank again you guys.. have a Merry Xmas and all the best for 2008..

It's not a WinXP issue, it has to do with Microsoft updates and Internet Explorer. You will have the same issue on Win2000.
You can still get the hotfix, even without your support contract.

Thanks again ettiene..
I checked the sage accpac website.. I can still access the knowledge base and a few more other sections..
I tried getting the hot fix.. But once I get to the webpage where I can download it, I get a message telling me that I have no access to that item..
Please advise on my other options to get this hotfix..
I appreciate all the information you've given me..

Thank you Ettiene.. I just sent you an email requesting.
You've really made my Christmas with this.
