Is Accpac 5.4A compatible with server 2008 or it can run to any platform?

You should be fine. You'll probably have to install and run everything as an Administrator, and give full rights to users on the shared folders, but otherwise it's a stable 32-bit Windows app.

Is there need edition for MSSQL 2008? it can run to either STD or Enterprise?
My concern is the Client Access License or CAL.

That's between you and Microsoft, it's on the honor system. Accpac doesn't care about database CALS, you could have a 100 users of Accpac and a 5 user database CAL on the SQL server.

MS SQL 2008 64bit on Windows 2008 64bit runs even better, you can throw more RAM at it.
