I'm trying to install Accpac 5.2a on a Win XP SP2 client PC. The Pervasive.SQL V8 part went through alright but when I try to install ACCPAC Advantage Series from the System Manager CD then I get the error "You must install a supported database engine and client before you can run ACCPAC" and when I click OK, I get another error "Error loading A4WAPI.DLL error = 126". What intrigues me is that I don't have a problem loading it on a Win 2000 SP4 PC. I've a feeling it's a permission issue because during the last stage of the installation, it stops at Updating Registry and then the above errors pop up. Can anyone help?

Ignore the supported database engine message, that's just a warning.

Have you rebooted and tried to get into Accpac?

Now when I try to run Accpac, I get the message "You do not have a license to use this product". I know it's permission issue in the registry. Can you help?

It's not a permissions issue at all. Your SharedData folder doesn't point to where the licenses are, i.e. *.LIC (or *.PLS depending on the version.) Look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ACCPAC International, Inc.\ACCPAC\Configuration\SharedData.

Thanks again. Now Accpac opens but when I try to open anything eg. GL, AP etc., I get the error "Control is not properly installed". Any help?

Hi Jay:

Thanks very for your help. I solved the error "Control is not properly installed" by just adding the user to "Power Users Group" and it seems to work fine.

Once again, thanks very much for your help.
