Can anyone tell me if it is possible to extract document property information from word/excel/powerpoint files (ie the info you can get by right clicking on a file and choosing properties) and return it to a web page using VBscript (or any other scripting language for that matter).

I'm creating an intranet and would like to be able to conduct a search on the comments property in a folder of word documents.

Any pointers would be really useful!!!!

Hey bigfella,

In ASP you can use FileSystemObject component to retrieve file properties such as its name, size, etc. Checkout FileSystemObject in MSDN or on the net to get more info.

Hey guys,
i have been looking for almost a solid month for specific information on this topic. I wish to set a Document Property Var. and then read it back using ASP/VBS on an NT4 platform. Could you help shed some light on this mystery...

Thanks,
-greg
