Accessing Layers for editing

I purchased some ebook cover templates that are editable, however I have not found a way to access the individual layers in order to edit them. Maybe they need to be unlocked or something, I'm not sure of the terminology.

Many thanks for any help.
 
Select the layer in the layers palette. If they're locked they will have a padlock sign on the layer.
If it is editable type, then the layers thumbnail should be a T on a white square. If not, then the text has been rasterised.

Moe: It could have been a real ugly situation, but luckily I managed to shoot him in the spine.
 
Barehug is correct and if the layer is simply locked you can double click the layer then click OK to un-lock it.
