I have been serving Filemaker from my main Mac and accessing it remotely by IP address. I want to install a wireless home network, which is easy enough. but don't understand how to access my Mac for the database when it is behind the router with a router-assigned IP address. Can anyone give me a tip on where to start?

Thank in advance!

i just got this to work. there's a tech artcle on the filemaker website at:
basically, you have to get into your router setup screens, then you have to set the filemaker 'server' machine to a static i.p. address (else the address will change ever time you restart the router) then open port TCP/IP 5003 for both TCP and UDP and have it point to the static ip of the 'server'. write down the ip address that your service provider assigns to your router (you can find this in one of your router set up screens)then on your remote machine, chose "open remote" from the file menu, click "specific host' in the list at the bottom, type in the ip address of your router, and you should see your multi-user databases in the box. it's easier than it sounds. you can email me direct if you have questions...
