Hello Friends,
I wish to access clipper applicaton's (.dbf) files from Oracle. I have learnt that it can be done with ODBC but dont know how to proceed with it.

Can any one help me out . Its urgent

In fact I my further plan is to create a view using the Oracle tables and the dbf files

WHERE do you plan to create these views? Oracle Server may access external data using TRANSPARENT GATEWAYS, which , I suppose, you don't have. Forms/Reports may use any ODBC datasource, bat can not store views. Though, you may use EXEC_SQL package to access a number of datasources simultaneously. Regards, Dima

Shall it be done only through TRANSPARENT GATEWAYS !!

In Oracle Hetrogenous Services there is also Oracle Generic Connectivity. Can't we make use of it ?
In fact I tried to go thourgh the Oracle Hetrogenous Services but not able to understand the setting up of Agents and Class information. It mentions, that we can also make database link to Non-Oracle databases.

I plan to create view (based on .dbf files and oracle tables) in the Oracle server and for it access the .dbf files through database link. I can then make my Forms and Reports based on the view.

Hope I have been able to explain my plans. Now kindly guide me .
