A customer of mine has moved into an office space and the tennant before them left a BCM phone system that is somewhere on the 2.0 software range. What I am trying to do is access it to start programming the system for their use.

What I am having trouble finding out is the current IP address to connect to the BCM. What is the default IP address assigned by Nortel?

Also i have tried connecting to the BCM via a telephone using the Feature**266344 command and have been unsuccesful. What is the default command to enter the programming through a telephone?

Thanks,

Telephone based programming is not supported until 4.0.

Default IP address is 10.10.11.1/24 on LAN 2 and 10.10.10.1/24 on LAN 1.

You can also connect via the serial port 9600/n/8/1. If you don't have password information though, you are hosed.

I have connected a serial cable and am trying to use hyperterminal to connect via the serial port. I have set up my com port to be 9600,8,n,1. Is there any paticular key sequence required to get the BCM to talk?

Try with or without a null modem. As soon as you achieve a good connection, the screen will ask you for Username after you press enter once or twice. As stated above, if you do not have username/password info, you are S.O.L.

You can try connecting a packet sniffer to the BCM and see if you get any packets out of it which would give you the IP address. Then the web page is
You can search the forum for default user/password (I won't put them on a post) and try them.

Good luck.

It's strange no matter what I try I am unable to get in either thru the serial port or the ethernet ports. I have tried using a null modem cable at 9600,8,N,1 using either Xon/Xoff, hardware, or none as the flow control. I have also tried connecting a crossover cable to both the 1 and 2 ethernet ports setting my laptop to the correct IP address range and even talked to the guy who used to support the system and got the addresses of 10.10.100.15 & 16 as the addresses that were used. I also used LookAtLan to try and sniff the address and was unsuccessfull.

I just can't get in.

Any additional help would be appreciated.

HD could very likely be gone. Can you ping the supplied addresses and get a response? If not, connect a monitor to the monitor port and see if the you get a windows file message come up during boot.

Are you at least getting to the login prompts either through explorer or on the serial cable interface?

Is this a BCM 1000?
What is the model # ie: NT7B10??

If you don't get any responce from the serial port or you can't ping the IP address, it may have the BAD CAP problem that started with the BCM 1000.
