When creating an Access2007 database, is there a simple way to have the entire ribbon to be not visible at all? I read all through help and I can't seem to figure out how to make it go away.

Hi,

Double-click any TAB in the ribbon.

let me clarify. I would like it to be not visible when users first open the database.

its NOT?

The only way that I know how to hide them is to check off Allow Full Menus (under Access Options / Current Database) and then I choose my menu from Menu Bar (which appears when I load a 2000-2003 mdb in Access 2007. I end up with my custom menu and no ribbon.

Right click at the top and choose Minimize the Ribbon.
Doesn't make it fully disappear, but frees up a lot of screen space and can be brought back fairly easily.

I would like the database to open with absolutely no ribbons. And i don't want the user to have to click anything to minimize or close it. That was always possible in past versions, but I can't figure out how to do that when creating a new database in 2007 version.

To remove the ribbon in Access 2007:

Make a custom USYSRIBBONS table, as outlined in this web page here:

In the USYSRIBBONS table, you will create a RibbonName text field, and a RibbonXML memo field.

Name your custom ribbon my entering a recognizable name in the RibbonName text field (i.e., "NoRibbon")

Enter this code in the RibbonXML memo field:

Code:
<customUI xmlns="[URL unfurl="true"]http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2006/01/customui">[/URL] <ribbon startFromScratch="true"> </ribbon></customUI>

Save the table, and close. Now click the Office button, select Access Options>Current Database, and under the Ribbon and Toolbar Options dropdown select your custom ribbon name.

OK to confirm, and the next time you open your database, presto! No Ribbon!

To get it back, simply open your database while holding down the SHIFT key.

I hope this helps!
