i am running multiple access 2007 databases (converted from 97)on a network. DB's appear to grow large almost overnight, intermittently lock up, then make multiple back up copies of themselves. After compacting and repairing, they are good for a few days and start again. The DB's lock up with a lock file and then can't be deleted. This forces my users to always go in the long way thru explorer and not use desktop shortcuts. The network guys are unsure and are blaming the product. Are there any product defaults and/or hotfixes/service packs that they might be missing. All my code was good for years and converted nicely. I suspect it's the network traffic but.....

Check out Allen Brownes compilation of "Good, bad & ugly" ;-) - there's also some tips & tricks there.

You are running a split setup (backend/front end), with front ends on the users desktop?

actual file(s) is on the server theoretical drive on asmall network, preferably users use a desktop shortcut to go to the file location(s)and work in a form to enter data, all data stored in a single table
