Access Windows 2003 server without password

I have a server that does not have security concerns and must share its data on the network without asking users to type password.
The server has active directory installed and there are users in different domain or Windows 98 workgroup want to access that server.
I enabled the guest account on the shared folder but users still have to type a username and password to access the server.
Is there a way that I can let users just access the server's data without entering username and password?????

My guess would be that you will need to go into the Domain Controller Security Policy in admin tools, then local policies, security options. Then set Additional restrictions apply to anonymous connections to disabled. Then under User Rights Assignment, add the Guest account to the Access this computer from the network.

I must say that doing either of these is exceptionally bad security wise, so you better be sure about the security of this machine.

For the other domain you need to establish a trust between the domains.

Setup the NTFS permissions to allow the appropriate users to access the files and they should not be prompted for credentials as long as they are first logging into the domain.

I disabled the restrictions apply to anonymous connections in Security option and assign guests group to have access to the computer from the network in User Rights Assignment. However, the server is still denies network access.
Please help. Thank you very much.

by default...the everyone group does not include anonymous users as a member...this can be changed in group policy though...save yourself headaches and worries though..don't use guest....guest account wil lstill prompt for creds unless a static drive mapping was made and the creds saved with it and set to reconnect at each logon

1. ACL resources using the everyone group and set the following in policy:
computer configuration\windows settings\security settings\local policies\security options\Network access: Let everyone permissions apply to anonymous users
*you need to enable this
i would do it at as low a level as possible (aka, the OU that your file servers reside in...i DO NOT suggest doing this to DCs if DCs are the file servers)

2. ACL resources to use anonymous logon...then set security options to allow anonymous access if necessary


#1, while still very unrecommended and unsecure, will still be slightly safer than #2


either way sucks ass though...and only way to get around that is guest access....you will continue to get prompted due to the fact that the ACL does not have anonymous logon...thereby informing the server service to prompt for credentials.....
