I'm trying to output a report of about 5,000 pages to MS Word so that it can be printed on a fast laser printer.

I've used File/Output To to send the report (in preview mode) to an RTF type file. Unfortunately, the report has sub-reports and so this method doesn't work (the sub-report data is ignored).

Does anyone have an alternative method of exporting a report to Word without re-creating the report in Word ?

Many thanks in advance ...

Using the 'print to file' option in print setup will not work. This is because the printer I want to use cannot read the print file produced as it will have specific print codes embedded in it . The print shop want me to produce a Word document with all my report pages in it (so no print codes) - they'll then print it using their own print drivers.

Regards,

Adrian

Perhaps you could try this solution:

Add a printer driver to your computer and specify that it be the "Generic" brand, and the "Generic/Text" model.

Then if you choose the "Print to File" setting for your report, and choose the Generic printer, I'm pretty sure you'll get a text only report without any printer codes. It's worth a shot. -- Herb
