I would like to know if it is possible to write a statement in VBA to automate reports to print to a pdf file and save that pdf file with a preset name. I have the statement written to print the report, but it prompts for the pdf name. I would like to automate that step. I'm using Access 97 and Adobe Acrobat 4.0.

Ideally our goal is to have a report in pdf for each employee so we can email it.

Having tried the same thing you're looking to do, I have a few suggestions. first off, have you looked at Snapshot format (*.snp) It's actually more secure than a PDF and about the same size and is easy to automate (it's part of access) and much like adobe, the reader is Free at Microsoft's website.

Now with that said, can you get it to print to your distiller instead of the writer? The distiller puts it's output into a folder on you C:\Drive (I think it's C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe 4.0\PDF Output) From there you can name it or copy it or send it (etc...) whatever you wish and it's all pretty easy.
