I am trying to name a field "001" (no parenths), but it keeps renaming the field "1" because it sees it as a number. Is there any way for me to get Access to accept "001" as the field name?

I forgot to mention one essential thing.
This only happens on a table that is generated automatically using a make-table query. In the field name, I can type:

001: tFormTable.[001a] & " " & [001b] & " " & [001c]

but it automatically changes it to this:

1: tFormTable.[001a] & " " & [001b] & " " & [001c]

How can I get it to leave the field name alone and not knock off the leading zeros?

make them quoted strings.
