I've one spare static ip and would like to setup wireless in the conf room for our customers use to access their email and internet. My question is are you able to configure the access point as DHCP? We have DHCP server but don't want to use it since I want this wireless network to seperate from our corp network.

Thx.

Well, strictly speaking, think of an access point as a "wireless layer 2 switch." It doesn't do things that we take for granted in a wireless router such as NAT, DHCP serving, VPN, firewalling, etc.

But if you change from an AP to a wireless router, (with the possible exception of APs embedded in layer 3 devices) what you are proposing is indeed possible.

I would run it by my security guys first as to really secure yourself, you need to firewall this network off pretty well.
