I have a client that has a Three PC Peer-to-Peer Network setup. All the pc's are on a 10.10.10.x network ip address scheme. There is an application that is installed on a PC that is running WINXP in the C:\Programs File that we must access from the two other pc's. All the PC's are in a work group and I can browse and see all the other PC's. The problem is when I try to open the Programs File from on of the other pc's on the network I receive an access denied message. I have shared the C:\ drive and the programs file drive on the pc running WINXP and I have ownership of the folder Program Files. I have checked the permissions and I can open other folders with no problem on the C:\ drive on the WINXP PC. Any Suggestions?

Are you trying to execute the program locally on the nonxp machines from the program loaded on the xp machine? If this is the case is the program a networkable version? Can you load the program on all of the machines and just shaer a common database?

Another thing , I had a similar problem to this that just gave me fits. I had to add all of the users to the XP machine and give them administrator rights. It would be worth a shot! Let me know how this works out for you.

I am not trying to execute any programs from inside the folder C:\Program Files, the problem is that I can not open this Folder. When I try to open this folder I receive an Access Denied error message. I can access other folders on this PC's hard drive without any problem. I have the hard drive shared and the folder C:\Program Files shared.

Thanks for the Help. I have disabled simple file sharing and created accounts for all my users. Now I have access. Thanks again for the help.

I also found this to work.
Permitting Network Access Without a Password

To allow users to log onto their computers without a password and then access the XP Professional machine without a password, you must make a security policy change:

Go to Control Panel | Performance and Maintenance | Administrative Tools | Local Security Policy.
Expand Local Policies | Security Options.
Double-click Accounts: Limit local account use of blank passwords to console login only, which is enabled by default. Disable this option and click OK.
This will permit network access without a password. The user's computer can boot directly to the Windows desktop, and be validated against the corresponding XP Professional user account, without a password.

Note that the term “blank passwords” isn't technically accurate. There's a difference between having a password which consists of one or more blank characters, and having no password at all. This setting actually permits access by users who have no password at all.
