Access Denied when installing printer drivers

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100 with Windows 2000 installed. I am trying to install a network printer, HP 4000 TN and an HP 8100. When Windows 2K begins installing the drivers it starts out fine, and just before the end of the process it pops up an error message saying: Error installing drivers, Access is denied.

I have put my user ID in the administrative group and I have given myself full control over the C: drive. I have also upgraded the OS to SP 1 hoping that this would fix any bugs, but it hasn't. Any idea's would be most appreciated.

First you would want to look and see what driver you have installed on the server or where ever you are pulling the driver from. I have found that you must have the 2000 driver for it to install correctly. I didn't have this problem in win95 or nt only when I tried to install the same printer on a 2000 pc did I get this message. Once I find the 2000 driver and loaded on the server I was able to pull it down to my 2000 pc and the install went fine. Both of the printers mentioned above were networked/shared.

You should also check your driver signing setting in Hardware manager, if it is set for block, then it will not install the 3rd party drivers for any device that is not in the HCL
