i think that this may have something to do with frontpage file extensions if so how do i rectify the problem?

in the course of try to change from WMSDE to SQL server 2000 so that the site could have a search facility i did at one point install frontpage server extensions.

everything on the site appears to work alright except uploading a file (of any kind and any size) and maybe alerts (haven't tested). the screen just says:

Access denied.
You do not have permission to perform this action or access this resource.

i need to get it fixed asap or i could be in trouble.

as i say everything else seems to be working fine, users just can't upload.

it can read but it obviously can't write. i've checked through permissions in iis enterprise manager and sharepoint. nothing seems to make any difference there.

there are 2 versions of file extensions - one is inbuilt into server 2003 and the other can be downloaded from

i don't think that this is a problem

i've seen this
and this

how do i fix this????

PLease HELP!!

i am running:
sharepoint services 2.0
sql server 2000
IIS 6.0

fpse currently are the ones that came with the o/s windows server 2003 standard

i'm too tired to concentrate on this now maybe i should just click repair in add/remove sharepoint services

i don't want to have to unistall everything - i don't have the disks anyway i would have to get the hosting company to do that. i did make a back up of the registry possibly just before i installed fpse2002 the first time.

(i installed it again to see if it made any difference to the error message i got when trying to upload documents in sharepoint - it did make a difference - without fpse2002 no page is found and various variations depending on whether it is the fpse2002 that came with the os that is installed, fpse2002 that did not come with the os...)

fixed!
repaired the installation in add/remove programs.
