Access denied to folders 1

I'm trying to get into some folders on my local machine that are telling me that I don't have access. I am logged in as the administrator on a WinXP Pro system and when I try to take over ownership, the option isn't even visible. If anyone can help, please do. I have some very important files that I don't want to loose. the disk itself is a secondary drive in a machine that was once used as the primary. I changed the jumpers before I hooked it up to the new machine.

You need to disable simple file sharing before you can take ownership
