Hi guys and gals,

I'm currently building an online record shop using a combination of PHP and MySQL through Lycos.

I am just in the process of filling the database with the information for each record (initially placing the details onto an Excel spreadsheet ready to upload into the MySQL database).

The problem I have is that Lycos (my webhosting company) place fairly strict limitations on the database and I cannot use the standard LOAD DATA commands to get the csv file into the database.

Now, I seem to remember seeing a PHP script that took my file and used the INSERT command to place the data line by line....but can I find it again on the web? No!

I don't suppose anybody knows of the script I'm referring to?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Rob

Hi,

Yes, sorry, the message I receive when trying to import the whole file is:

#1045 - Access denied for user: 'mydatabasename_co_uk@%.lyceu.net' (Using password: YES)

Regards,

Rob

Ah. They haven't given you the LOAD permission.

I'm not familiar with the script you're looking for, but it couldn't be all that hard to write.

Not that this is the answer, but I just tried logging into my mysql database through phpmyadmin...supplied the wrong password and got the exact same error message you mentioned above. perhaps you just have the username/password wrong somewhere?

Hi ethorn10,

No, the username and password are fine. I use phpmyadmin for the odd tweak here and there...but again, when I try to import using the 'Insert data from a textfile into a table' at the bottom of the phpmyadmin screen, I get the same error message.

It's really annoying because I had this problem with a one off import I did last year, but I've lost track of the script I found on the internet...and now I can't seem to track it down anywhere! Unfortunately, my php coding capabilities are quite fairly limited and I wouldn't really know where to start when it comes to writing the script from scratch.

Managed to answer my own question...

Found the script that inserts each record into the MySQL database line by line...
