access database

Hi all,

Im new to sharepoint and I am trying to add an existing access database so that all users can add data through my sharepoint site instead of using individual databases.

In access the database works fine with primary keys, and autonumbers, ect

My question is.. how do I upload the complete database instead of individual tables, and how do I keep the autonumber and primary key functions working?

One other thing, how do I link the tables so that I can keep normalisation ect

You cannot load the database into sharepoint and use the lists instead of tables.

However you can export a table with data to sharepoint (Access 2003) Then in sharepoint you can link the table back into you database. [red]This would however require you to rename bound fields in forms and reports[/red]

I would recommend looking at Infopath. The Infopath form can sit in sharepoint and when a use inputs the data Infoapth will sumbit the data directly into the database.

Infopath is a good product, but I did like the fact I could easily view a datasheet, and make sharts and count records within it. Do infopath forms allow for such functionality?
If it does then that would be good news, It would be cheaper for me to buy infopath than office 2003 pro which is required for the datagrid view.

To the best of knowledge Infopath doesn't support charts.

What do you need the datagrid view for?
