Access Database as Source

BOE XI.

A user needs me to upload a report to InfoView. The report has two sources, SQL (OLEDB) and an MSAccess database on the network.

Once the report runs fine on my pc. On InfoView, the report will not run and pops and error saying that the database logon is Incomplete or incorrect.

I know the SQL is good, but I don't know what to do about the Access db. It is pointed to a UNC share.

I'll assume you're talking about a Crystal Report.

The UNC path probably cannot be accessed by the Windows account you have running your BOE XI services.

The default account is the Local System Account.

Change the account for the Crystal Reports Page Server, Crystal Reports Job Server and Crystal Reports Application Server (RAS) to an account that has network access to the Access database and it should work fine.

Yes it is a Crystal Report. The account that is running both services has sufficient access to the MSAccess database. Maybe the settings are wrong under the report properties in BOE. In the report properties (in BOE Admin), under the Process tab within the Database screen, I have the first option selected (Use original database logon...). I have not put anything inside the User/Password boxes. Should I have something else specifically set? I have played around with these and I have no luck.

You would only need to put a user name and password if your access database has security turned on.

Have you confirmed, by logging on to the server upon which BOE is installed, with the same account running the BOE Page Server and Job Server, that you can navigate to the UNC path where your MS Access database resides?

Another good test would be to install Crystal Reports onto the same server as BOE and try running the report from within Crystal. This will give you more detailed error messages than the Database logon prompt you are seeing in BOE. I think the database logon is a red herring.

I am having a similar problem with my report as well. There is no security on the access db yet when the report is run from the BOE I am asked for a username and password. I cannot find a way around this problem. Thoughts?
