Access Data Page - UNC

Ok - I was able to create a datapage and publish the data page to our webserver.

The database / access data page work fine internally because everything is connecting with UNC.

From the internet - that points to the server- it fails connecting to the database as the remote workstation cannot resolve the UNC connection.

If tried to change the link on the data access page from \\machine\share to

http://ip/database

however the data access page rejects this and correctly identifies it with the error pop up as a web server.

Is it not possible to use the access page from external internet?

Ok - so ....

I added a virtual directory for MSADC as per Microsoft KB300699

I also changed the access data access page property UseRemoteProvider to True - and it now connects without an error - however the access data page shows up blank instead of the form - anyone?

I have a sort of similar problem, and still looking for help.

I'm working on Windows XP Professional, IIS version 5.1, Access 2003

The web server and the data source is on the same computer

I checked my msdfmap.ini (which locates in my C:\Windows folder,
rather than C:\WINNT in the Microsoft documentaiton) and I did
everything exactly as asked. But whenever I change the
"UseRemoteProvider" property on my Data Access Page to TRUE, it stops
working - I receive no error alert but all fields come up as blank and
the navigation buttons appear active, but they do not work when I
click them.

I accessed my page using http protocol through my computer
name and IP address. I also tried connecting to the data source with
absolute path and UNC, but the all give me the same result.

I have been looking for any help possible, but not much :-(

Hi H ...

I'm just responding with what I had discovered in my research.

The only method to connect from access database store to non-intranet frontend (webpage, etc.) is thru an ASP type interface.

You can not use Office Web Client, etc.

You can with SQL.
