hi, can someone send me the instructions for accessing the CLI for Session Manager? what program are you using, ASA, putty or tutty?

also, can you send me all the steps. from which app you use to the settings, SSH versus something else, port 5022 or 5023, etc.

...thx

Just ssh on port 22. Asa can do it as 'other system' putty or tutty are fine - you don't need any terminal emulation keys like f1 or anything, so asa/tutty/vt100 emulation isn't required or helpful at giving you anything extra.

My personal preference is to use PuTTy (or TuTTy, doesn't matter in this case) and SSH in with default settings, port 22. Login, open sat by typing "sat" after logging in. When prompted for a terminal type after typing sat, use "sunt". This will give you the F-keys that most of us are used too.

randy i think you are getting confused with CM , the OP is talking about session manager

agreed, this is not for CM, it's for getting to the CLI in SM.

:( I was answering way to late in the night

Do what the other guys said: Just SSH in and you are in

Thanks for the feedback. I'm able to log in to the CM via ASA by setting up my SM as a generic device. For some reason, it doesn't work via Putty or Tutty and I was really hoping that Tutty would work since it's richer than ASA.

then something is incorrect in your settings in putty/tutty or you have a bad version of the sw , if ASA works as a generic on port 22 then the other two certainly will , in fact you will probably find that most people here use the other apps over ASA , i use them specifically because i can use putty connection manager... that remembers user name and password and you can also invoke x4 commands automatically when logged in , really useful when carrying out morning health checks on a site ...

Anyway i digress what settings are you using for p/tutty ??

Using port 22 SSH, same as I have set up in ASA as a generic device. when i try to access SM, i never get a login screen, it just sits there, then times out.

are you using the ip address that you web browse to ??

I ask as you have x2 ip addresses ...........for any SM ......the management ip and the sm100(security module ip) , im just wondering if you have a different ip in the putty session compared with the ASA ...... in ASA can you type traceSM and see a response ???
