Please help! I've started a new job and I've been asked to de-duplicate some Excel worksheets in Access. I used to be really good at Access years ago, but am now a bit rusty.
I followed the MS Access Help instructions to the letter, but still am having an error message.
My problem is this: I imported a worksheet from Excel to Access to get rid of duplicates. I then created a copy of the saved table and saved it as structure only to be my 'append to' table. Next, I created a new primary key in the new table for the field with the duplicates. I then ran the append query per the Microsoft help instructions. I got this procedure to work on one of the tables I imported, but it won't work on the others. The error message I receive is "Duplicate Output Destination." I know what this means, but I don't understand if I am appending a table, why I would get this error message?
I hope you can help me with this problem.

Many thanks,

This means that in your append query you have specified two input fields to be placed in the same target field.
You need to look at the AppendTo row in the query grid and see if you can spot it.

Lupins46,

Thanks so much for the info. I'll look at it again. I checked everything a million times on Friday, but maybe I missed something. Your input is greatly appreciated!

You can post the SQL view of the query and see if anyone here can spot the problem.

Lupins46,

I got it to work (thanks to your help). I was putting in the name of the "append to table", rather than the field name in the query. Thanks!
