When opening Access, the default printer changes from "Letter" to "User-Defined". The output is then unreadable. I then open the printer option box and change it back to "Letter" and all is fine until I reopen Access with the same result.
I'm using Access 2003 with a Brothers HL1440
How can I make Access leave the printer's default setting as it is?

Have you turned off the Name Autocorrect anti-feature?

Remou,
Yes I have, with the same results.

Let me be quite sure I understand you. You have a printer that has the default paper size set to letter and this works for say, Word, however, when you open Access, the default paper size is changed and this can be seen when you look at the printer set-up under Printers and Faxes on the control panel. Is this true? If so, is there any code running on start-up?

Remou,
That's correct. The only thing that runs on Access start is DoCmd.Maximize so the start page fills the screen. Yet as soon as Access starts, the printer's letter size is changed to "User-Defined" making the output unusable.
