I recently switched from Access 97 to 2000. At first all seemed well. But now I am getting into forms and the layout is different for print and I am getting stuck and some funny error messages. Have people had some problems with this upgrade?
To tell the truth I wish we had'nt upgraded to Access 2000 at all, it uses a lot more of the system resources. It may be worth trying some of the analysis tools on Access 2000, this will highlight any problems you may have.
One thing which probably would'nt cause problems for most people was that Access 2000 does not support Foxpro files, this was a nightmare because our whole system is based around Pegasus Operations, which only uses Foxpro files.
If anyone want's to know how to link Foxpro files with Access 2000, let me know.
I agree with Andrew. It was much easier developing and maintaining applications in a multiuser environment with Access 97 than 2000. The only problem I experienced with the conversion had to do with some references and the order they were in. They must be in a specific order or some of your code will bomb.
I have agreed to take on a project that will have me converting a Foxpro 2.6 database to Access 2000. Can someone give me a heads up about what problems/challenges I may face?
BTW - I am seeing a lot in this forum about linking to the FoxPro tables. Is there a benefit to linking vs. converting?
(I am very inexperienced in this area...please bear with me....)
