Hi,

I have a table in Access 97 that we would like to convert as follows:

Frontend - Access 97
Backend - SQL Server 2000

Now, since I'm a newbie when it comes to SQL Server, I was wondering how to achieve this? And I realy mean step-by-step here :)

Who can help me?

Thanks in advance

oops, my mistake. A database I mean...

When I create a database in SQL Server, and then try to 'Import data' and select the database, it gives me an error about me not having permissions... while I'm the administrator :-o

You might want to try creating a new database and then import everything into it. Then move it to SQL Server. That has sometimes worked for me when databases gave me problems with "permission".

Flavioooo,

I did not see another way to send you a question... I am considering converting an Access 2000 DB to a SQL Server 2000 DB. How did the size of your DB compare? What size was it in Access and what size did the same thing end up in SQL Server? Can you give me a sense of this?

Also, did you notice any improvement in response time of a related application?

Please advise, thanks!

Brent

Hi Brent,

we still haven't gotten around to actually do the whole conversion, but we are planning to in about 1 or 2 weeks.

I'll keep you posted on what differences it makes for size and response time :)

Maybe you can give me your emailadress, then I can notify you on there
